Triple treat for Manor Lakes shoppers

A mammoth $40 million expansion is on the cards for Manor Lakes Central shopping centre.

Plans lodged with Wyndham council reveal the centre will triple in size from 6443 square metres to 18,868 square metres in a single- level expansion that will include an Aldi supermarket, another major supermarket, a discount department store and speciality stores including fashion, homewares and services.

It will also include a food hall, fresh food area and a further 843 car parking spaces.

Construction on the expansion is expected to begin next year, subject to council approval.

The centre is owned by Ranfurlie Developments, the retail and commercial arm of Dennis Family Corporation.

Ranfurlie Developments chief executive Mark Wilson said the shopping centre, bounded by Manor Lakes Boulevard and Ballan Road, would serve the area’s burgeoning community.

“In addition to the activity centre’s retail offer, we are proud to be delivering carefully considered family-friendly features including a state-of-the-art parents’ room, kids’ play area and large amenities,” Mr Wilson said.

“The stage two expansion is expected to generate about 386 new jobs across the full and part-time employment spectrum.

“On completion, the centre is expected to have a total workforce of about 700 people, making it the largest employer by a considerable margin, in the west and north-west of Wyndham.”

Ranfurlie Developments is also behind the under-construction 25,000-square-metre Tarneit Central shopping centre, which will include Aldi and Coles supermarkets, a Kmart and more than 45 specialty stores, including fashion, fresh food and dining.

Tarneit Central is expected to open in October next year.
