A new train station is on the cards for Tarneit West after all, the state government confirmed this week.

An “administrative error” has been blamed for leaving the proposed train station off the state government map detailing the project.

The error came to light when Star Weekly made inquiries about the future of the station, which will be located beside Davis Road.

Last week, Wyndham council’s advocacy director, Bill Forrest, said the Tarneit West station was one of several earmarked for Wyndham.

Mr Forrest also said the transport department had purchased land to set aside for the project.

But the state government would not confirm plans for the station at that time.

Questioned by Star Weekly, Public Transport Victoria spokesman Nicholas White did confirm a potential station at Davis Road was part of the state government’s plan.

“Due to an administrative error, PTV’s network development plan … does not reflect plans for a future potential station at Davis Road,” Mr White said.

“PTV is currently updating the plan to correct the error.”

The network development plan also identifies new train stations at Truganina, Sayers Road and Black Forest Road.

These stations will be constructed in the next 10 to 15 years.
