Do you know of a Tyzack, an Alcock or a Densley?

Wyndham council wants to rename three sections of Tarneit roads after three of Wyndham’s earliest residents who enlisted in World War I, but they need more information.

As part of the state government’s Anzac commemorative

naming project, a section of Sayers, Woods and Gard roads – all dissected to construct the Regional Rail Link – will be renamed in honour of Charles William Tyzack, John Alcock and Henry Paget Densley.

Mayor Cr Adele Hegedich has urged anyone who knows a descendent of the three men to contact the council.

Families needed to be notified before the council can go ahead with the name changes.

“The stories of these Wyndham residents are touching and inspiring. They represent an important part of our history,” she said.

John Alcock was born in 1871 on his parents’ Tarneit farm.

He was enlisted in 1915 and sent to France the following year where he died.

Henry Paget Densley was a Werribee resident who enlisted when he was 22-years-old. He was an assistant manager and stock buyer for the Metropolitan Board of Works farm.

Charles William Tyzack was born in 1892 and enlisted aged 23.

Anyone with useful information on these three men is urged to email governance@wyndham.vic.gov.au or call 9742 0777 by July 31.
