UPDATE
Police have arrested two women and one man in relation to this morning’s shooting at Hoppers Crossing.
The special operations group assisted detectives from the armed crime squad and local officers in arresting the trio about 6pm this evening in the vicinity of Pacific Werribee, close to the scene where a police van was shot at in the early hours of this morning.
The trio will be spoken to by police and more information will be released as the investigation continues.

Armed crime squad Detective Inspector Stephen Clark said police were conducting a routine patrol around Hoppers Crossing when they spotted a stolen two-tone Nissan Navara ute about 3.25am.
Police pulled back after a short chase, when the offenders turned the Navara around and drove head-on at police, firing a single shot into the driver’s side of the police van.

The ute then continued along Derrimut Road in a northerly direction.
No police were harmed during the incident.
Detective Inspector Clark said there were at least two, and possibly three, occupants in the vehicle.
“It’s a real concern when anybody gets shot at, but particularly police, certainly in circumstances where there appears to be no reason for it,” he said.

“The pursuit had been terminated, and the car’s come back – who knows what they were thinking.”
It’s believed the vehicle involved was stolen from Braybrook on Monday night or Tuesday morning.
The armed crime squad and local detectives closed off Derrimut Road between Heaths Road and Kookaburra Avenue during the morning peak, clearing the area just before 9am.
