Homicide Squad detectives have charged a third man with attempted murder following a shooting in Point Cook last month.

The 29-year-old Irish national, from Point Cook, was arrested at a Melbourne airport about 9pm on Sunday.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The arrest follows the shooting of a 53-year-old Sydney man in Spraypoint Drive on February 21.

A 30-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, both from Point Cook, were arrested in relation to the shooting last month. They have each been charged with one count of attempted murder and remanded in custody to appear again at Melbourne Magistrates Court on May 27.

The shooting victim remains in hospital.

Investigators are still trying to locate two vehicles, both white Toyota HiLux Rugged utilities, which are believed to be linked to the shooting.

It is believed the vehicles could be in the Melbourne metropolitan area or possibly as far north as Nagambie.

Anyone with information about the vehicles or their current whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
