Members of the Werribee Lions Club have been left scratching their heads after the door to the club’s caravan was stolen this week.
Incoming president Tom Henderson said the offender, or offenders, had cut through the wire fence of the club’s Ballan Road premises sometime between Sunday night and Wednesday morning, torn the canopy covering the 1981 Jayco caravan, and taken the caravan door.
Mr Henderson said it appeared whoever was involved in the theft was targeting the door because there was no other damage to the caravan, and nothing else had been taken.
“They’ve taken the time to unscrew the caravan door,” he said.
“That’s all they’ve taken. We’re a community service trying to do the right thing – we’re gobsmacked.”
Werribee Police are investigating and have called on witnesses, or anyone with information about the theft, to call Werribee Police Station on 9742 9444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
