Theft, assault charges laid after Tarneit carjacking

A 16-year-old St Albans boy has been charged with carjacking, assault and theft of a motor vehicle, after an alleged carjacking outside a Tarneit school on Wednesday night.

The boy was expected to appear before a children’s court today.

Police said two other males have been interviewed in relation to the incident and released pending further inquiries.

The alleged incident occurred outside the Brinbrook Street school just before 7pm.

A man has been treated for minor facial injuries.

The stolen vehicle has not been recovered.

Senior Sergeant Matt Noy, from the Wyndham crime investigation unit, said investigations are continuing.

He said detectives were hoping to speak with anyone with information about the incident.
