Wyndham Harbour close to completion

Workers are putting the finishing touches to stage one of the $440 million Wyndham Harbour marina project.

Project director Sonya Miller says the first stage is on track for completion in the next few weeks, with the marina’s official opening likely in late February.

“It’s an exciting time – we’re coming up to the conclusion of the main marina works, and there’s a lot happening on site,” Ms Miller said.

“Infrastructure works have been going on, the floating pontoons have been installed, and foreshore landscaping works have been undertaken.

“It will be really exciting to finally deliver … it’s been a 30-year vision for state governments to have a boat harbour in the west.

“We’re setting up a sailing school, there will be a boat broker, lots of new retail tenancies – that whole area will really come to life as a tourism destination.”

The development features the only marina between Williamstown and Geelong, and eventually it will have 1000 berths and storage for up to 390 boats.

It will be the largest marina in Victoria, opening up parts of Port Phillip Bay never before accessible to swimmers and boating enthusiasts.

It will also be the new home of the Werribee South Coast Guard.
