Be prepared to see red.
Wyndham council and the RedWest artist’s collective have launched a public art program in Werribee, the sixth annual RED redux, which will run until December 31.
Visitors to Werribee will be able to see, hear and experience 10 different artworks, including interactive installations and pop-up performances.
Wyndham’s arts, culture and heritage portfolio holder Cr Tony Hooper said the free program would include something for everyone.
“Artists have created performances and artworks inspired by the colour red, and then brought these unique interpretations to the Werribee City Centre,” Cr Hooper said.
Artist Christine Mauboy has created an interactive treasure hunt, suitable for young and old alike. She has hidden tiny red ‘WHERE.A.BEES’ throughout Werribee’s CBD and created a series of clues, accessible by scanning a QR code with a smartphone app, to inform about the history of Wyndham.
Or join artist Mariah Courtis and give Rudolf’s Raffle Roulette wheel a spin on Friday between 11am and 1pm in Watton Street. Share a lamentable holiday memory with Ms Courtis in exchange for the chance to win prizes.
Cr Hooper said RedWest had also created a red carpet, which would give the VIPs of Werribee – or anyone with a phone – the chance to strike a pose and take a selfie.
“It’s great that people visiting the Werribee City Centre will be entertained, moved and amazed by RED redux,” Cr Hooper said.
“RED redux supports the professional development of our local artists.”
