Teens arrested over western suburbs joyride

Seven Wyndham teenagers have been arrested by police following a car chase in Wyndham.

Police spotted an allegedly stolen white Skoda SUV being driven at high speeds along Greens Road in Wyndham Vale just after 11pm on Tuesday, February 5.

The driver was followed by air and ground units through Werribee, Tarneit and Point Cook before travelling across the West Gate Bridge towards Melbourne before returning to the western suburbs.

The driver stopped on Featherbrook Drive in Point Cook, where the occupants got out of the car and into a white Volvo, police said.

The Volvo allegedly sped off along the Princes Freeway, outbound towards Little River, before returning to the Werribee area.

The driver crashed the car into a tree on Wisdom Avenue in Truganina, before five occupants were arrested at the scene.

Two teens fled on foot, were located with assistance from air forces, and were arrested shortly later.

A 15-year-old boy, five 16-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy, all from the Wyndham area, will be interviewed by police.

Officers allegedly located several weapons in both vehicles.

The Skoda is believed to be stolen during an aggravated burglary at a property on Arkins Court in Tarneit on Sunday, February 2

The Volvo is believed to be stolen from an aggravated burglary on Kalorama Street in Tarneit on Tuesday, February 4.
