Police have arrested and charged three teenagers following two aggravated carjackings and a robbery in Truganina and Southbank, which took place on December 28 and 29 and January 8.
A 17-year-old, 18-year-old and 19-year-old, all from Truganina, have been charged with a range of offences, including aggravated carjacking, theft of motor vehicle and robbery following the three incidents.
Investigators said one of the victims drove his car into a residential driveway in Victoria Street, Southbank just before midnight on December 28, when he was approached by two men.
The men allegedly began to assault the driver, while a third man approached.
The three men fled the scene in the victim’s silver Ford Falcon sedan.
The 24-year-old victim sustained lower body injuries and was taken to hospital in a non-life threatening condition.
Police said that about 2.45am on December 29, a man was sitting in his vehicle on Balston Street, Southbank when he was approached by a group of males and females.
The group allegedly assaulted the man before stealing his vehicle.
Both vehicles were later recovered in Truganina and Southbank.
On January 8, an 11-year-old boy attended a fast food outlet at the corner of Forsyth and Sayers roads in Truganina about 7pm.
The boy was allegedly approached by four males, who allegedly assaulted him and stole his phone.
An 18-year-old man from Truganina was subsequently charged with carjacking, theft of motor vehicle, robbery, handling stolen goods and breaching a court order.
He was remanded to appear at the Werribee Magistrates Court at a later date.
Police later executed two search warrants, on January 12 and 19 in Truganina.
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated carjacking, theft of motor vehicle and robbery.
He has been remanded to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
A 19-year-old man has been charged with aggravated carjacking and robbery.
He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne MagistratesCourt at a later date.
