Teen driver caught allegedly speeding, drug driving

A Hoppers Crossing man was allegedly detected travelling at 155 kilometres per hour on the Western Ring Road yesterday.

Police conducting Operation Achilles – which is targeting high risk and hoon driving across the state– observed the 18-year-old driving in a 100 kilometre per hour zone of the Ring Road near the Western Freeway, Sunshine West around 12.05am on Sunday.

Police said the driver is expected to be charged on summons with speeding, drug driving and learner unaccompanied.

His vehicle was impounded for 30 days, at a cost of $878.50.
