Tarneit man charged for firing gun

Police have charged a man man who allegedly fired a gun in the air in Tarneit last night.

Officers responded to reports of a man firing a gun into the air in the vicinity of Seasons Boulevard about 11.30pm on June 27.

With the assistance of the police air wing, officers on the ground cordoned the area and observed from a distance before finally arresting the man without incident at 5am.

No one was injured.

A 43-year-old Tarneit man was charged with reckless conduct endangering life, a prohibited person possessing a firearm, possessing a loaded firearm in a public place, possessing a firearm with no serial number, using a firearm in a public place, using a firearm in a dangerous manner, possessing ammunition and possessing a prohibited weapon without exemption/approval.

He has been remanded to appear before Sunshine Magistrates’ Court later today.

The investigation remains ongoing.
