Tarneit man and Hoppers Crossing woman to be charged over Geelong tobacco raid

A 41-year-old Tarneit man and a 19-year-old Hoppers Crossing will be among four charged by police in relation to seizure of more than $400,000 of illegal tobacco across Geelong.

Police searched six shops on Kosciusko and Detroit Avenue in Corio, Separation Street in Bell Park, Peter Street in Grovedale, Wilsons Road in Whittington and Church Street, Herne Hill where illegal tobacco was allegedly being sold.

Both the man and woman will be charged on summons with one count of possessing tobacco products with intent of defrauding the revenue and dealing with property suspected to be the proceeds of crime.

According to police, approximately 323,120 sticks of illicit tobacco, 23,968 vapes, 18.5 kg of loose tobacco and $13,000 were seized as part of the investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing, and several people will be spoken to in due course.

Police have said the investigation is ongoing and say several people are due to be spoken to.
