Making your home environmentally-friendly is easier than you think – and it can save you money.

That’s the word from the Shoestring Gardening group, which is hosting an Eco Expo on July 28 that will provide locals with tips on how to reduce their energy costs and waste.

A number of community groups will be showcasing their wares – including boomerang bags and bees wax wraps – and offering help on composting, solar power and gardening.

Meanwhile, there will be the chance to try out tai chi from 10.30am, and Captain Trash will make an appearance and will run some kids activities.

Shoestring Gardening member Bronwyn Riddell said the free event highlighted all of Wyndham’s environmentally-friendly community groups and tied in with the group’s plastic-free July campaign which encourages people to reduce household waste and save money.

“We’re trying to create a bit of buzz around our waste problem and share other ways people can do things without using plastics,” Ms Riddell said.

The Eco Expo will run from 10am to 2pm at the Eco Living Centre, 28 Ridge Drive, Wyndham Vale.
