A dual-sided mural featuring native flora and fauna has been painted on a soundwall on Palmers Road in Point Cook.

Local artist Jimmy Dvate completed the masterpiece at the suggestion of the Point Cook Action Group (PCAG) last year.

PCAG worked with Wyndham’s council’s graffiti team to bring their idea for the mural to life.

The mural is located along the Skeleton Creek Trail, near Dolphin Crescent.

Wyndham’s community safety portfolio holder, Cr Susan McIntyre, was part of the team which helped to organise the mural.

“The new mural shows the beauty of our natural environment and it’s an amazing reminder of all that is on our doorstep,” Cr McIntyre said.

“It shows the responsiveness of council to listen to the local community and deliver not only a preventive measure against graffiti but something to be proud of.

“Wyndham City partnered with ’Remember the Wild’ wildlife group as well as VicRoads to make the mural project possible.”

Wyndham mayor Adele Hegedich said the mural was created in a bid to tackle a persistent graffiti problem, while enhancing the local area.

“Council have outlaid close to $10,000 in the past 12 months to remove graffiti locally and spend an average of $350,000 annually to keep Wyndham free of graffiti,” Cr Hegedich said.

“The mural location is a popular spot for walkers and riders and now provides something extra impressive for them to enjoy along their journey.”
