Cambridge Reserve in Hoppers Crossing is undergoing a $500,000 upgrade including the addition of new play equipment and a sports court.
Wyndham council is installing new swings, a seesaw, tower and a nature play area in the park, along with a half basketball-netball court, picnic facilities, barbecue, seating and pathways.
Mayor Adele Hegedich said the upgrade formed part of the council’s strategy to address ageing infrastructure at several Wyndham reserves.
“Cambridge Reserve is a much-loved open space among the wider Hoppers Crossing community,” Cr Hegedich said.
“This significant upgrade will breathe new life into the reserve and make better use of the space, creating a more welcoming place to gather, new opportunities to exercise and a fun place for children to spend time outdoors.”
Cr Hegedich said the works would transform Cambridge Reserve into a district-level park, meaning it would cater not only to Hoppers Crossing residents but also the wider Wyndham community.
“I’d like to thank those Wyndham residents who took the time to tell us what play elements they wanted to see included during our community consultation process for this project – your invaluable feedback has helped shape the future of this reserve,” Cr Hegedich said.
Works at the park are expected to be complete by the end of the year.
