Swimming champ Tara Gallop knows hard work pays off.
The Hoppers Crossing 16 year-old came away with a silver in the 1500 metre freestyle event at the recent Hancock Prospecting Age Swimming Championships in Adelaide.
Her finish times earned her a top five ranking in Australia for her age group in the 1500 metre and 800 metre freestyle events.
“I’m excited because of the hard work I put in to achieve this result,” Tara said.
“I’ve been swimming for six years at Hoppers Crossing Swimming Club.
“I would like to achieve as much as I possibly can and go as far as I possibly can.”
Coach Ken Warren said he was proud of Tara’s performance.
“She did very well to place second in the 1500 metres and fourth in the 800 metres.
“The idea is to get them to swim as best they can and help them to achieve their goals.”
Tara was the only member of the club to compete at the age championships.
Warren said he welcomed young people to join the Hoppers Crossing Swimming Club which has 50 members aged between 8 and 18 years.
