Famous racehorse Subzero has galloped into the hearts of pupils at the Cambridge Primary School in Hoppers Crossing.
The 29-year-old thoroughbred, who won the Melbourne Cup in 1992, visited the school on Wednesday last week as part of Racing Victoria’s Community Education Program.
Jockey Lucinda Doodt also dropped into the school to speak about her career.
Although the event started outdoors on the school oval, as it began to pour rain the students moved into a hall. Subzero – who is also known as Subbie – was led inside to be patted by the excited children.
Subzero even answered questions the youngsters asked him, nodding and shaking his head to reveal that he liked carrots and hay, but not apples.
Subzero even admitted he had a girlfriend, causing the students to burst into laughter.
