Students at Tarneit P-9 College will be running, jumping and exercising their way into next month.

Several of the school’s students have signed up for the Premier’s Active April campaign, a government initiative which encourages Victorians to commit to doing 30 minutes of exercise per day for the entire month.

Tarneit P-9 College is among the top 10 schools in the state for the number of students who have registered for Active April.

For people interested in joining Active April, a free mobile phone app is available, which enables users to search for sports sessions, activities and exercise events in their neighbourhood, near their work or close to schools.

Wyndham’s mayor and sports development portfolio holder, Cr Peter Maynard, said improved health was not the only reward for Active April participants.

“Everyone from Wyndham who signs up will receive three free passes to AquaPulse in Hoppers Crossing,” Cr Maynard said.

“The passes include access to all health, fitness and aquatic facilities within AquaPulse and is available for use during Active April.”

“There are also some other great rewards, such as a one-hour free court hire session at Melbourne Park or Albert Reserve and a two for one ticket to Melbourne Aquarium.”
