Melodies composed by Handel, Bach, Vivaldi and Brahms will be among the musical pieces performed at the upcoming String Festival at Westbourne Grammar School in Truganina.
More than 100 students will take part in the annual school event later this month.
Ensembles involved in the show include the school’s Senior Orchestra, Senior String Orchestra, Junior String Orchestra, Year 4 String Ensemble, Year 7 String Classes, Year 8 String Classes, Year 8 String Quintet, Year 11 Piano Trio and Cello Ensemble.
Students will also perform musical pieces with such varied names as
Rumba Time, Sea Fever, Silver Forest and House of Smashed Avocado.
The string festival is part of a packed musical timetable for Westbourne pupils this term.
On Monday, August 26 pupils will take part in the Victorian School Music Festival there are also chapel recitals, a choral festival, a house singing competition, VCE solo and group performances and the school musical,
Seussical Jr: The Musical, during this school term.
The String Festival will be held on Wednesday, August 21 at 7pm in the Westbourne Grammar School auditorium, 300 Sayers Road, Truganina.
Entry is by a gold coin donation on the night.
