Aged care residents brought all the glamour of the Spring Racing Carnival to the Mercy Place Wyndham Oak’s Day celebrations last week.
Mercy Place hosted a Fashions of the Field event to wrap up a week of race-day themed festivities.
Lifestyle coordinator Tim Whitmore said staff and the residents look forward to the annual celebration.
“This year, residents and staff participated in Mercy Place Wyndham’s very own fashions on the field contest which had some stiff competition as residents strutted their stuff in their best racewear and fascinators,” Mr Whitmore said.
Werribee singer Elia Cannizzo serenaded the crowd with songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s.
The classic Past The Post Melbourne Cup quiz, a sweep presentation and Marquee-style happy hour rounded out the week’s entertainment.
“The Spring Racing Carnival is such a highlight for our residents,” Mr Whitmore said.
“Seeing everyone in their best racewear brings a flurry of colour and excitement.
“It’s the start of our busy festive season that lasts all the way until Christmas.”
Mercy Place Wyndham will be holding its annual fete on November 16.
