The new anthology features all the winners and shortlisted entries from last year’s Words of Wyndham competition.

Wyndham learning city portfolio holder Josh Gilligan said the creative writing contest attracted submissions from many talented authors.

“More than 400 entries were received, not only from Wyndham but throughout Australia,” Cr Gilligan said.

“From short stories and poetry to flash fiction, the Words of Wyndham competition was an incredible success and an exciting way to celebrate the importance of the written word.

“Not only did it help uncover some truly talented local writers, it also helped to encourage more people to take up the craft.”

The stories and poems in Words of Wyndham touch on themes ranging from suicide and family violence to online dating, Easter eggs and birds.

“With the release of this anthology, the amazing shortlisted entries we received will live on and hopefully inspire future generations of writers,” Cr Gilligan said.

Copies of Words of Wyndham Anthology 2017 are available to borrow from Wyndham libraries.
