Owners of the popular Sprinkles Ice Creamery Lollies n More in Tarneit are planning to open a second store next year.

Since brothers Zane and Kouda Assaad opened their Thames Boulevard shop in 2018, the business has become a favourite among families from Wyndham and beyond.

The store offers 60 flavours of ice cream, plus a wide range of lollies.

Speaking to Star Weekly last month, Zane said he and his brother had received multiple calls from other businesses and shopping centres across the state, asking them to open a second Sprinkles venue.

However, Zane said they had decided to remain local and were planning to open their second store in Tackle Drive, in Point Cook’s Saratoga Estate.

Zane said the new store had a large grassed area out the front and a park behind it.

“It’s all about the kids – we want something in the area where you can go and sit down on the grass, with kids, parents and grandparents,” he said.

Zane said the Point Cook store might also carry a range of up to 72 different ice cream flavours.

He said the new store would hopefully open in early to mid-January.

Zane said that he and Kouda had been “blown away” by the success of Sprinkles.

“It’s the most humbling thing that ever happened to us,” he said.

“When we opened the shop, we just wanted something small that we could survive on.”

The brothers “grew up” in a milkbar located in Bellbridge Drive, Hoppers Crossing, which was run by their father.

Zane said he remembered his two older sisters bringing young customers behind the counter, to give them free lollies.

He said that he and Kouda aimed to re-create the atmosphere of a family-friendly milkbar at Sprinkles.
