Aboriginal Victorians in Werribee, could be supported into more sport and active recreation through the next round of the Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program.
Werribee MP Tim Pallas encourages the Victorian Aboriginal community to apply for grants of up to $1500 for teams to participate in state-wide or national sport carnivals, grants of up to $1000 towards team uniforms and sporting equipment and up to $250 per individual, for the purchase of sporting uniforms and/or equipment and grants of up to $750 for travel and accommodation expenses.
“The Victorian government’s Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program is giving Werribee Aboriginal, and community sports the support they need to grow their ranks and go to the next level,” Mr Pallas said.
“I encourage more community-based sporting clubs, Aboriginal organisations, local participants, volunteers and passionate communities to take advantage of this opportunity to nurture and launch the careers of our next generation of Aboriginal champions.”
The state government said it has provided more than $290,000 through this program towards 270 grants to support Aboriginal community run organisations, clubs and individuals across the state.
Applications for funding are open until 7 March 2023.
