A $15.7 million new sporting precinct is on the horizon for Point Cook.
Wyndham council this month adopted the Bensonhurst Parade Reserve Master Plan – a vision to guide the development of sport, recreation and open space over the next decade.
The 10-hectare site, located on the corner of Bensonhurst Parade and Hacketts Road, will include four soccer fields, a cricket pitch and four cricket nets, eight tennis courts with lighting and a pavilion with changerooms and other amenities accessible to multiple sports clubs.
One of the tennis courts will include line marking for multiple sports, including basketball and netball.
Wyndham sports development spokesman Peter Maynard said the reserve was well-needed, with existing open spaces in Point Cook already in high demand.
“As anyone who lives in Point Cook knows, the booming population in this a
rea means we are constantly working to provide more sporting facilities for local families,” Cr Maynard said.
“Once complete, the facility will be capable of hosting junior and senior levels of competition and training for local sporting associations, clubs and schools.
The master plan follows the recent opening of a play space and picnic area at the site.
