Wyndham sports centres will get facelifts, with the council allocating more than $734,000 towards projects.
Among three projects slated to go ahead is the resurfacing of the synthetic hockey pitch at Presidents Park at Wyndham Vale.
Tarneit’s Baden Powell Reserve will be home to a new regional skate park which will include new youth spaces, playgrounds, shelters and bench chairs. Council is funding the design.
The third project will involve the supply and installation of play equipment at Snowgum Court Park at Hoppers Crossing.
Cr Peter Maynard, the council’s sport, leisure and open space portfolio holder, said the works would make it easier for residents to stay fit and active.
“These works run the gamut, from sporting facility upgrades to new playgrounds, and ensure that people of all ages and interests can get out and enjoy our fantastic parks and reserves,” Cr Maynard said.
He said the works were allocated as part of the council’s 2015-16 budget, which set aside $4 million to improvements at parks and reserves, and more than $8.7 million for redeveloping leisure facilities, sports clubs and playgrounds.
