Six charged in alleged drug ring bust

Police have charged six people, including four from Wyndham, following a four month investigation into the alleged trafficking of large quantities of methamphetamine.

Ten search warrants were executed on Wednesday, March 30, in Point Cook, Werribee, Warrnambool, Grovedale and Highton.

Police seized 700 grams of methylamphetamine, with an estimated street value of approximately $420,000, 38 grams of cocaine and small quantities of GHB, MDMA pills, anabolic steroids, cannabis and testosterone.

Three luxury vehicles worth $390,000, a truck and five motorbikes that police allege are the proceeds of crime were also seized, as well as a hand gun, pistol, two silencers, a shot gun and an extendable baton and $196,530 in cash.

Two men from Point Cook aged 30 and 34 were charged with trafficking commercial quantity of methylamphetamine and remanded to face Geelong Magistrates Court on March 31.

A 26-year-old man and 27-year-old woman from Werribee were charged with possessing drug of dependence and bailed to face Werribee Magistrates Court on October 10.

Police also charged a 31-year-old Warrnambool man and a 32-year-old Highton man with trafficking commercial quantity of methylamphetamine and they were remanded to face Warrnambool Magistrates Court on March 31.

The operation was led by detectives from Western Region Crime Squad with support from investigation units in Wyndham, Geelong and Warrnambool.
