The hard work being put in by Sanctuary Lakes Cricket Club has been recognised.
The club was recently named the community cricket club of the year at the Cricket Victoria annual community awards.
Sharks vice-president Brett Talbot said it was nice to know that what they are doing is being recognised.
“It was unexpected,” he said. “It’s pleasing to get that recognition for what we have been doing the last 10 years since the inception and the work that we have done in the community.
“It’s really pleasing as a lot of people have put in a lot of hard work.”
Talbot said they were shocked to be even nominated for the award, let alone to win it
“The last 24 months we’ve ramped up a lot more,” he said.
“It’s good for the club and the community. The whole experience was great.”
Talbot said they were hoping to grow even further, but were being held back by a lack of facilities in the area.”
