Wyndham’s State Emergency Service (SES) was called out to 64 properties overnight when torrential rain hit Wyndham.
SES crews worked through the night after heavy the downpour and flash flooding descended across the city just after 4.30pm yesterday.
Wyndham SES unit commander Laurie Russell said most of the calls were for water entering properties.
There was also a number of properties, including the NAB bank branch at Pacific Werribee, where ceilings collapsed due to the force of the rain.

“The ceilings just couldn’t bear the weight of water and just collapsed,” he said.
“Because we haven’t had heavy rain of any description for some months, we found most people’s spoutings and downpipes were clogged with debris – we even had the problem at our own building at the civic centre.”
Mr Russell warned the wild weather would continue throughout the week.
“I’ve just got another pager warning from the Bureau of Meteorology saying that more storms are on the way, particularly for Geelong, in the next few hours.
“It’s going to continue right through to Saturday, by the look of it.
“People can help themselves in these situations by making sure that, where practical, take every measure they can to ensure their downpipes are clean.
“With rain like yesterday, no downpipe on any house is going to cope with that – the drainage system on a house is not designed to take that, but we can minimise the extent by making sure everything’s clean.”
