Search for man following Werribee armed robbery

A CCTV image has been released of a man detectives are searching for following an armed robbery at the Racecourse Hotel last week.

The man entered the gaming venue via a Werribee Street North entrance about 9.30pm on Sunday, March 31 carrying a firearm and wearing an open-faced balaclava.

Police said that the man demanded cash, threatening a cashier with the firearm.

The cashier handed over a quantity of cash before the man left.

The thief was last seen getting into a white, older model sedan parked in a neighbouring street.

No one was injured during the incident.

Detectives want to speak to anyone who may recognise the man or have further knowledge of the armed robbery.

Police are also appealing for anyone who may have dash cam vision of the man and the white vehicle to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential on-line report at www.crimestoppers.com.au
