Police are searching for a Good Samaritan who intervened when a man with a knife allegedly approached a 12-year-old, during an attempted armed robbery in Werribee earlier this month.
The girl was at a bus stop on Kookaburra Avenue, between 3.45pm and 4pm on July 5, when a man armed with a knife approached her and demanded her mobile phone.
Police said a male standing by intervened and pulled the man away from the girl, who was able to run away.
The alleged offender was perceived to be Asian in appearance and about 180cm tall. He was wearing a white-collared shirt, black fluffy jacket and black jeans at the time.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, particularly the man who intervened, to come forward.
