Sustainability was at the centre of a green-themed event hosted by Thomas Chirnside Primary School in Werribee last week.
Pupils, families and staff worked hard to organise the school’s annual Showcase, which was held on Thursday.
Visitors to the school were able to enjoy activities and view work based on educational subjects from throughout the year, including exhibitions of art and music performances such as choirs, drumming workshops and discos.
The sustainability theme was emphasised with the sale of garden produce and seeds from the school’s Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden.
School families and businesses also donated ingredients, in addition to those grown onsite.
Event attendees enjoyed a variety of food, such as rice paper rolls, paella, pizza, lemonade and lemon curd.
The students also produced friendship bracelets, pom-poms and scented playdough for sale.
The school’s principal Bev Thompson said: “This year we wanted to show many more of the interests that are important to our school and its developing culture.
“We tried to build on the success of previous events and introduce a sustainability theme, which is an important emerging idea at the school.”
