Manor Lakes P-12 College will be closed from today, due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Channel Seven reported the news this morning. A notice from the school’s assistant principal to families did not detail the circumstances surrounding the positive COVID-19 test but says that “more information will follow in due course”.

“While we know this is late notice, and some may not receive this information on time, we will be onsite in the morning to assist families of P-10 onsite attendance students,” the message, which was sent on Monday night, said.

Channel Seven reported that a student at the school is believed to be a close contact of a worker at Australian Lamb Company abattoir in Colac, where at least 12 cases of coronavirus have been linked.

There are also unconfirmed reports that a member of non-teaching staff from Westbourne Grammar has tested positive for Covid-19, and that the school’s two campuses in Truganina and Williamstown will be closed until Friday.

However, online learning will continue for all students Prep to Year 12 pupils. The planned return to campus for Years 11-12 has now been delayed.

Star Weekly understands the school is conducting detailed cleaning of all areas over the next few days.

Al-Taqwa College in Truganina and Tarneit Senior College also remain closed.
