A Truganina child care centre and kindergarten is backing an annual campaign to help protect Australian children.
Samsara Avenue Early Learning Centre is getting behind Bravehearts’ White Balloon Day campaign, an annual awareness and fundraising day dedicated to the prevention of child sexual assault.
Children at the centre will take part in a range of activities, including creating a chalk mural that must feature a white balloon as a symbol of hope as part of the Bravehearts national chalk art project.
Samsara director Liza Pendlebury said centre staff strived to create a nurturing and safe environment for the children in its care.
“All children have the right to feel safe and White Balloon Day is a great way for the whole community to come together and support Australian children,” she said.
Bravehearts founder and executive chair, Hetty Johnston, added: “child sexual assault is a tough topic but we are encouraging the community to ‘chalk’ about it through art and sharing the message of hope and prevention.”
White Balloon Day will be held on September 8. For more information, go to whiteballoonday.com.au
