Samuel Glewis was the envy of his Auskick mates when he received news that he would be in the running for Auskicker of the Year.
The Manor Lakes youngster was nominated for the competition which rewards the “truly awesome participants” of the national program.
Samuel’s name rang out at a Friday night match earlier this month between home team the Geelong Cats and Adelaide Crows.
“I love Auskick because it’s a great opportunity to play and do what I love,” he said.
He’ll be up against 22 nominees from around the country who attend Auskick programs – all vying for the NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year to be announced during grand final week.
As a nominee, Samuel will present a premiership player with their medal on grand final day and will walk in the annual parade. He will also play on the MCG at half-time.
Samuel, who knows the lyrics to every club song, said his dream would be to sing
Up There Cazaly at the grand final match.
A $5000 grant in a NAB Reward Saver Account is up for grabs plus personal mentoring from Geelong Football Club captain Joel Selwood and AFLW star Katie Brennan.
Enter the Auskicker of the Year competition before August 8 by uploading a fun short video of the player in action at home or in the backyard; kicking goals, commentating or taking a speccy.
