Several Wyndham-based organisations and charities have just received a hand to help them keep on doing their great work in the community.
On Wednesday 26 November, Werribee Rotary held its grants presentation night and handed cheques to groups serving the local community.
Held at the Italian Social Club in Werribee, more than 65 people from across Wyndham attended to find out which groups were successful.
Among the recipients was the Williams Scout Group– who operate out of Lawrie Emmins Reserve in Laverton North – and the Wyndham Vale Men’s Shed.
The VJ Academy was recognised for its dedication to youth science and learning, which was demonstrated in programs such as the Young Scientist program.
Children’s charity Big Group Hug received funds to continue its operations collecting vital items for babies and their families, while Helping Hampers Point Cook will use its grant to provide food and resources for locals doing it tough.
Truganina CFA and Mambourin Cricket Club also received grants.
This is the third year the group has been presenting grants, having helped a total of 22 community groups across the Wyndham area by providing $62,000 in funding.
