For the first time, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood will be bringing a pop-up donor centre to Tarneit from January 10 to 14, allowing locals to roll up their sleeves and donate blood.
In a statement, Lifeblood said it hopes around 100 locals will book in to donate at the pop-up, helping to save lives in the community and beyond.
Lifeblood spokesperson Erin Lagoudakis said the team can’t wait to meet local donors.
“The team are excited to set up in Tarneit and hopefully get to meet future regular blood donors,” Ms Lagoudakis said.
“A blood donation is needed every 18 seconds and we need more donors now than ever before which is why our pop-up donor centre visits have been expanded to include Tarneit.”
One in three Australians will need blood or a blood product in their lifetime, but only one in 30 currently donates.
Donated blood goes to support cancer patients, those involved in road accidents along with pregnant women, newborn babies and countless others.
The Tarneit pop-up donor centre will be located at Dianella Community Centre, 6 Congo Drive Tarneit West.
To book a donation, Tarneit residents can visit lifeblood.com.au, call 13 14 95 or download the free donate blood app.
Lifeblood will return to Tarneit again in April, July and October.
