Roads closed for Werribee standoff

A man was taken to hospital for assessment following an incident in Werribee on Tuesday morning.

Police were called to the Princes Highway about 6.30am on January 2 following reports an agitated man was in a car near the CSIRO building.

The Princess Highway, Sneydes Road and Hoppers Lane were cordoned off while police negotiated with the 29-year-old Werribee man.

It’s believed the standoff lasted more than three hours before he surrendered to police without incident.

The man was then taken to hospital and the roads were reopened to traffic.
