Wyndham council has adopted a revised Road Management Plan after conducting a review of the document, as required by the Road Management Act 2004.
The aim of the Road Management Plan is to ensure public safety through road maintenance.
The Road Management Plan identifies the council’s responsibilities and sets the standards on how municipal roads are inspected and maintained to manage civil liability, as well as demonstrate that the council is managing the municipal road network responsibly.
The council has added a new requirement into its Road Management Plan, to reduce its footpath height differential intervention level to 20 millimetres (from 30 millimetres) to reduce tripping hazards.
This will cost the council an estimated $1 million per annum.
