UPDATE: Derrimut Road in Werribee is closed in both directions between Railway Avenue and the Princes Highway, due to a police incident at the rail overpass.

The Department of Transport is asking motorists to avoid the area, and to instead use the nearby road bridges in Werribee or Hoppers Crossing.

Buses continue to replace trains on the Werribee line between Laverton and Werribee stations.

Train services will continue to operate between Flinders Street and Laverton.

The Department of Transport has issued a statement advising passengers to check station platform displays and listen for announcements, and to allow extra time for their journey.

“This incident is under the control of Victoria Police,” the statement read.

“Services will resume when it’s safe to do so.”

The VicRoads signals team is monitoring conditions and will adjust traffic lights as needed to minimise congestion and assist with bus movements in the area.

Local bus services on routes 153 and 498 provide another alternative for commuters travelling in the area.
