Residents are being encouraged to participate in the Garage Sale Trail, which encourages people to sell unwanted items instead of dumping them.
Over the November 12-13 and 19-20 weekends, garage sales will be hosted around the nation and shoppers can hit the street to find a bargain.
Council’s climate futures and environment portfolio holder Robert Szatkowski, said the event would be a fun way for residents to connect and make some money while contributing to a good cause.
“Keeping stuff in use for as long as we can by buying or selling it at a garage sale makes sense for the planet and makes cents for participants,” he said.
“It’s the circular economy in action and it’s something all Wyndham residents can get behind.”
Councillor Szatkowski said council expected to have more than 100 garage sales across the muncipality.
“It’s garage sales made easy with supplied tips, resources, advertising and even touch-free PayPal QR code payments, plus you’ll extend the life of stuff you love, meet the neighbours and make some money,” he said.
In the lead up, the Wyndham community can be part of the Trail Tutorials, a series of online and free talks all about sustainable fashion and renovations from relevant speakers in fashion, home renovations and the circular economy.
