The Holi Festival of Colours will be brighter and bigger than ever when it returns to Penrose Promenade Park in Tarneit.
Event organiser Pradeep Tiwari said this is the fifth year the festival will be held, all people are welcome to attend and enjoy colour throwing, rides, market stalls Bollywood dance performers and multicultural performances.
“We have a mixture of paid and free activities,” Mr Tiwari said.
“We want to make sure the community enjoys it, they come out every year and grow it, they teach others, and we bring other cultures in to celebrate with us, that’s been my motive.”
Mr Tiwari said when he initially began organising the festivals, free events had been unheard of, and the organisers were committed to ensuring all families with different income levels would be able to participate.
“If you’re gonna charge $10 a ride, and a family comes in with four kids, that’s $40 even before they’ve had a meal,” he said.
“We trying to make it fair for everyone and affordable, so anyone can come in and have a good time.”
The event will be held on Saturday February 18, noon-9pm.
A Fireworks display will take place at 9pm.
Free parking will be provided and while entry is free, bookings are necessary.
