Wyndham staff have been out and about on the region’s roads, renewing surfaces as part of a $3.05 million program to maintain and upgrade local assets.

The council has already completed 31 road resurfacings across Hoppers Corssing, Point Cook, Tarneit, Werribee and Wyndham Vale.

The council has been planning works at the remaining 18 locations, which are expected to be completed by June 2023.

The works have included stripping back and replacing the top layer of the road to stop water and to make the road smoother and safer for everyday use.

Wyndham mayor and Community Safety portfolio holder Susan McIntyre said the Road Surface Renewal program was a crucial part of maintaining and improving Wyndham’s road network.

“Keeping our roads in prime condition is an ongoing priority for council,” she said.

“Road resurfacing prolongs the life of the road by replacing the top layer of asphalt, resulting in more durable roads and improved road safety for all users.

“Council officers regularly monitor our roads right across the municipality and considers feedback from the community to help guide this annual program.”

Wyndham council has also invested $8.9 million towards rebuilding 12 streets during the 2022-2023 period as part of its Road Reconstructions program, including the $5 million rehabilitation of Sayers Road between Tarneit Road and Reflections Boulevard.
