Point Cook ballet student Renee is dancing with glee after being cast in two Victorian State Ballet productions.
Renee, 10, performed in the ballet company’s concert of Le Corsaire last month.
“I loved taking part in the performance because the dancers in the main roles were dancing with us and near us as well, and it was great to be near them when they were on pointe and doing jumps,” she said.
Renee recently attended another audition for the ballet company’s upcoming production of The Nutcracker, which will be performed at the Darebin Arts Centre on November 9.
Renee said she was overjoyed to receive a letter in the mail afterwards, telling her she had been cast in the show.
“I was jumping with glee,” she said.
Renee said she started ballet lessons with Point Cook Performing Arts six years ago. Nowadays, she spends up to eight hours a week in the studio, including weekends.
Earlier this month, she competed in four categories of the Prodigy Dance Festival, and placed second in each section.
Renee said she hoped to become a professional dancer, ideally with a company such as the Australian Ballet.
She wanted to thank her Point Cook Performing Arts ballet instructors, Miss Genevieve, Miss Annabelle and Miss Reynolds, for all the help they have given her.
