Reclink to mark milestone

Reclink Australia will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a gala dinner at Marvel Stadium on Friday, December 3.

The story of Reclink started off as a simple kick-to-kick at an oval in St Kilda, when founder Peter Cullen was working as a street outreach worker.

Mr Cullen, of Werribee, said that while working in street outreach: “You saw people living in a lost world, where there seemed no clear pathways to opportunity, no easy positive way for them to be involved in the world.”

Under the guidance of Mr Cullen, Reclink has developed into a national organisation which provides sports and arts programs to disadvantaged people.

Reclink’s partnership with more than 450 community organisations has helped to create pathways to improved health and wellbeing, education and employment outcomes for many participants.

As well, Reclink runs sports sessions in Wyndham and also provides athletic equipment and gear to disadvantaged families.

Legendary Australian singer and songwriter Paul Kelly will perform at next month’s Reclink anniversary event.

Rockwiz’s Brian Nankervis and radio star Jacinta Parsons will co-host the evening.

Guests will enjoy a three-course dinner with drinks, auctions and raffles.

Separately, Reclink is also running a major fundraising raffle to celebrate its thirtieth milestone, with the winner to be drawn as part of the night’s proceedings.

The first prize recipient will win a luxury four-night holiday to Hamilton Island.

(Due to government regulations, all guests must be double-vaccinated against COVID-19).
