Simon White will run 130 kilometres to raise money for the Mercy Health Foundation campaign, Pram Jam.

Mr White, the foundation’s executive director, created the Pram Jam campaign with his wife, Lesley, to raise funds and awareness of stillbirths and the complications for babies born prematurely.

He is a member of the Mercy Movers, a Pram Jam team created for Mercy Health employees.

Mr White’s family has been directly touched by complicated pregnancies, his wife had pre-eclampsia when pregnant with their son, Charlie.

“This [running 130 kilometres] is a small price to pay for these amazing heroes,” he said of the hospital’s staff. “Our family has been directly touched by complicated pregnancies. We are inspired by the work of our doctors and researchers at the Mercy Hospital.”

“I’ve chosen to run 130 kilometres because one in 130 babies are stillborn in Australia,” he said.

“I will run across five days as it’s been five years since my friend lost her son to stillbirth.”

Mr White will start his five-day run at the hospital. He is hoping to raise $13,000. So far he has raised more than $6,600.
