Public artworks in the pipeline

Wyndham council are partnering with the Public Art Commission and

Greening the Pipeline to commission two permanent public artworks for the

redeveloped Federation Trail.

The Federation Trail is a 23 Kilometre long shared path for cyclists and pedestrians

which follows the heritage-listed main outfall sewer through the western suburbs of

Melbourne.

The first of the commissions is live and open to emerging and established artists or

collectives to propose a permanent public artwork focussing on the cultural aspects

of the site, including a strong emphasis on First Nations histories of place through

interpretation, interaction story-telling and care for country.

The second commission on the East zone of the pipeline will open at the next stage of the project.

A process of shortlisting will take place with two submissions selected to a final stage tender.

Successful applicants at stage one will receive $2500.

Expressions of interest are now open and close on October 27.
