Proud Wyndham resident launches a community survey

A proud Wyndham resident has launched a community survey to find out the area’s most pressing needs.

Iris D’Souza, a research and strategy consultant who lives in Point Cook, says Wyndham is a great place to live, but the area needs infrastructure, resources and services.

“It’s a great community with many individuals doing amazing work to get our many needs heard,” she said. “What would help further is clear direction around what the community believes is important. It’s then a question of sharing our burning needs with key decision-makers, government agencies and the media.

“It’s an amazing place to live … we have a great community.

“If anything, we should be better off in 10 years. To do this, though, we need to collectively shape our future.”

Ms D’Souza, who runs Germane Insights, a research and strategy consultancy focusing on helping businesses and communities grow, said the survey was a way of giving back to the local community.

“Through the voice of the community, we can get clarity around our priorities and use that information as our starting point to develop action plans.

“It will be sad to see the lack of resources negatively impact our suburb and escalate our problems further,” Ms D’Souza said. “If we can work together collectively, we have a greater chance of achieving what matters most to us.

“We need many voices to make this research viable and direct the right intervention strategies.

“Once responses have been collated, our research findings will be used to assist council [and] state and federal governments.”
