Probus club mourns “bright” member

The Wyndham Ladies Probus Club is morning the loss of a cherished member.

Maggie McInnes joined the group in about 2010, and only retired in 2018 when she became too ill, she died last week.

Fellow club member Christine Robinson said Ms McInnes was “one of the nicest people” in the community.

“She was a vibrant personality, she was very much community minded, she cared about other people, she wanted to improve on things…that’s her in a nutshell,” Ms Robinson said.

“So many people in Werribee know of her, because she propped herself into all these different areas of the community, even though they didn’t know her personally, they knew of her and her contribution to what was going on.

“I believe she deserves a bit of a tribute for what she did contribute to the community.”

Ms McInnes was also a Wetland Warrior who cared very much about the environment, in 2019, Wyndham Park Community Centre also launched a scholarship named in her honour.

Ms Robinson said Ms McInnes was really well liked by everybody, and some people couldn’t believe she had died.

“This is how much we liked Maggie, to know what to hear that she’s actually passed away,” Ms Robinson said.

“This is the connection she had with people.”
